Awkwafina is an American performer and actress. Her first release was funny, well-written lyrics in rap that dealt with issues like racial identification and sexual orientation. She then expanded her fans to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first musical experience. She performed on the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, Nora Lum started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. Following a focus on education, she graduated with the degree of journalist in college and a women's studies specialization. However, it wasn't until she graduated that she shifted her focus to music. After becoming famous on the Internet and her own song My Vag was a reaction to Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually made its way onto her debut album Yellow Ranger. On the album, there also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitchethe cost of $. The latter song was linked directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in 2015. Alongside having a book published and a singer, she was also a professional as a performer. She has appeared in films including Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
